Stopping Abuse

Being a victim of abuse can cause women great trauma. From different parts of the world, female victims of abuse suffer from similar difficulties. As they suffer from physical and emotional pain from their abusers, especially for a long period of time, they initially feel alone and afraid to tell anyone about their suffering causing them to feel emotionally numb. Each time the abuse happens, the numbness becomes stronger that some women seem not to feel the physical pain anymore because they are already emotionally drained. Some even feel that there is no way out of an abusive situation and their lives will not change.

Victims of abuse should realize that they have to be strong and that they should fight back in order to protect their selves from further pain, degradation and other dreadful experiences related to the abuse. They must first realize that there are groups, organizations and local law enforcement agencies that can help them and provide treatment, protection and shelter if needed.

Sometimes, telling other people about the abuse can make the victim feel humiliated, thinking that it is somehow their fault that they are abused. This should not be the case. People should realize that it is not the victim’s fault that he or she is abused or violated, and it is time to stop the abuse before the abuser destroy any chance the victim has on happiness and on living a normal life.
